Everyday we read sonething that makes us wonder how far will some governments go to block the truth from their citizens and the world. Today I read some thing that took this to a new low.
In China, it seems they really really can’t handle the truth. Seems the chinese characters for “the truth” have been blocked on that country’s leading micro blog site Sina Weibo! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/9394684/The-truth-deleted-from-internet-in-China.html
Yep, you cannot find “the truth” if you try searching for them on this highly popular social media site which has more than 300 million registered users. All you will see is the message “According to relevant laws, regulations and polices, regulations and policies, search results for ‘the truth’ cannot be displayed”. I am both amused and amazed by this.
Sure makes this wise man’s quote seem forebodingly prescient… philosopher Blaise Pascal had once said: “Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.” And it looks like you gotta search damn hard for it these days.
Lets hope the dictatorial governments in other countries don’t start getting funny ideas from China’s actions.
